Economics 411--Graduate Student Paper

In addition to the three examinations, graduate students are required to write a paper in the class.  The paper will be due  the day of the final examination.

For graduate students, the course grade will be determined in the following manner:

Exam 1 30%
Exam 2 30%
Exam 3 (Final) 30%
Paper 10%
TOTAL 100%

The paper should be on a topic of the student's choice, but the topic should relate to the material in the class.  There is no absolute length requirement, but a paper between 5 and 10 double-spaced pages is typical.    The paper may expand on a topic that is covered in class or the text or the paper may deal with an extension of the material that has not been discussed in class.  Students are encouraged to relate the paper to their own disciplines.

It is best to begin the paper about midway through the course after the basic course material has been presented.

Students are required to receive approval of their paper topics.  The form below should be completed and approved before substantial work is undertaken on the paper.
